Wildlife damage recovery

NJ has a bow season, shotgun with solid slug, a sabot, and black powder.
We have a hunter who uses a black powder gun. He gets one or two deer
off our property each year. We are gifted back strap, roast, etc.

I still, almost every day, see a group of 5 deer on their
peregrinations. But it is with pleasure that we eat delicious locavore
free range venison.

Vancouver Island has no coyotes but lots of cougars.  They aren’t
generally shot.  When a cougar is roaming near a school, the children
are kept inside.  And the cougar that entered someone’s apartment was
just moved to a wild area.

They don’t manage to keep our deer in check, though.  When I was
young, about 1945, we used to make special trips to see deer in the
forest.  I don’t know what encouraged them to overrun our cities.

Diane,

What encourages deer to overrun our cities is nonsensical hunting
regulations which allow them to overpopulate. I am not a hunter and I
do not own a gun; so I am not a gun rights fanatic.
