I grow Lycoris squamigera (pic attached) here in the Minneapolis area, and it multiplies and has bloomed without fail since 1998. There a lot of people up here who do have problems getting it to bloom, and they usually are growing it in cool shade and maybe more water than needed. In our northern clime, my best clump grows in full sun. The "trick" I think is a warmer, and maybe dryer summer. This is exactly the season we have had this year - drier, and certainly warmer than most summers. I don't think humidity is a factor.
