We saw quite a few different species of Dierama when visiting the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal on a Cameron McMaster led trip. Like with many genera, it seems to me success would depend on the species. They don't all have the same growing conditions in the wild. The wiki says there are 44 species and that could have changed since it was written with all the taxonomic changes we see these days. Many of the species grow in high elevation summer rainfall areasĀ and would be more likely to survive cold temperatures. I'm wondering if everyone who posted is growing the same species.
