I wouldn't replace the email list, but a private group on Facebook would allow for better "filtering" and more potential PBS exposure, especially if associated with the already existing Facebook Page. If Facebook pulls any fast ones, who cares, there's the email list, but they probably won't cause any trouble for flower bulb enthusiasts, even vain enthusiasts, LOL. The main additional resource(s) needed would be admins/moderators. Some people like to double post. Others don't. Some will continue to use both. Some will prefer one over the other. It's much easier to share photos in a Facebook group, (it could even be a group focused only on photo sharing) and terms and conditions can be such that stipulate whether or not PBS can use those photos on their website or otherwise for promotion. I'm not saying PBS would. I'm saying that would be more convenient if they did. Topics can be started there, and a person can "unfollow" those particular posts. On this list, you get everything. It could be strictly a members only group or like the email list. As spammers and phishing target Facebook groups, it might be best to require membership, which can be verified via required questions when one joins. Another thought, the PBS Facebook Page might benefit from a "Donations" button. Any $20+ donation invokes annual subscription, etc., etc. Any <$20 is greatly appreciated, etc., etc. Devil's in the details. -- Mr. Kelly M.
