Is it me or is there a striking similarity between Triteleia and Leococoryne? I realize they are from two different geographical locations but they do share similar Mediterranean conditions. Hmmm???? -----Original Message----- From: pbs <pbs-bounces@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> On Behalf Of M Gastil-Buhl via pbs Sent: Wednesday, May 6, 2020 11:51 AM To: pbs <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> Cc: M Gastil-Buhl <gastil.buhl@gmail.com> Subject: [pbs] Is this Triteleia laxa or Brodiaea californica? Hi Brodiaea and Triteleia experts, I currently have two blooms that look the same but have different labels. The pink one: B_calif_hand4scale.JPEG B_calif_inflorescence.JPEG The purple one: T_laxa_BX447-24_1stBloom.JPEG T_laxa_hand4scale.JPEG T_laxa_inflorescene.JPEG The pink one I have labeled Brodiaea californica from a BX years back. This has bloomed every year, even through the neglected years. This year it is having its most robust inflorescence. It looks identical to the purple one except the color and the pink is just finishing its bloom but the purple is just starting. The purple one from BX447-24 is labeled Triteleia laxa. This is the first bloom for me. Info that came with it: Triteleia laxa K10P.TL01 - Nevada County. Donor initials KMcM. The pink I believe I grew from seed PBS NY 2012 item 9, the New Year's surplus distribution, donor not listed. I am not 100% certain that is the provenance but it is my only accession record of that species. Looking at the wiki page for Brodiaea https://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/… the B. californica does look like mine. Whereas the page for Triteleia https://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/… does not resemble these. I do grow a lot of T. laxa but only a few of those have buds emerging now, not looking to open soon.
