Possibly off-topic: I'm making labels for plants I received as Lessertia montana seeds from Silverhill. A taxonomic revision sinks the more tender Sutherlandia frutescens (and its entire genus) into Lessertia, and lumps L. montana into L. frutescens (Manning, 2015?). I also grow the distinctive/different plant which was previously called Sutherlandia frutescens, which doesn't make any underground storage organs for me. Phylogeny, amirite? Is there a good way to keep these plants distinctly labeled while keeping their taxonomy correct? Is this an appropriate usage of the old binomial, paired with "Hort.", subordinate to the new name (or in parentheses, maybe)? Just learned about geoxyles and "underground forests" today while falling down a tangentially related wikipedia & SANBI wormhole. Has anyone here tried growing Combretum platypetalum in temperate areas with a heavy winter mulch? -Joe in Southwest Virginia, stalling any way I can while the heat index shoots into the triple digits. _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/…
