Can bulbs be mailed in bubble mailers?

Under 1/4" requires a real person such as a window clerk or a Mailhandler to separate it.  If it is dropped into a mail slot and not picked up on the thick pile of letters on the belt it may not be mechanically separated because it can slide under the rollers that kick any thicker items out.  So taking them to the window is a good idea.

For the seeds I've mailed out this year, multiple local post offices
have
given me a confusing set of rules - envelopes under 1/4" thick send
with a ~
$1.00 nonmachineable stamp, but any envelopes over 1/4" thick are
charged
package rates. I use two or three layers of the thin foam packaging
that
comes on flat-pack furniture and such. I haven't gotten any complaints
about crushed seeds (mostly milkweeds); hopefully I don't hear any bad
news
in the spring!

frozen to my nursery tables.

If it is not over 1/4" thick there is little to protect an envelope

going into the canceling machine if is letter sized. Always make

sure

packages that are envelope sized are over 1/4"

the

seal is not flat or if it is stapled.
