Scoliopus bigelovii
Mary Sue Ittner (Thu, 01 Mar 2018 07:00:48 PST)
The Jepson Herbarium has initiated a series on youtube of California
plants. The one announced today is on Scoliopus bigelovii, one of our
earliest spring blooming flowers. I've been growing it in a pot
submerged in the ground, but I now have another one that has returned
growing directly in the ground. In spite of her mentioning several times
in the video about its unpleasant smell, none of us who have attempted
to get close enough to smell it have detected much of an odor. Cyclamen
coum has found its way into my pot and both were flowering recently.
