++++What I don´t know about Google groups is whether the Google search engine would post information about group members, such as a list of all your posts about amaryllis. I try to keep a pretty low searchable presence on the internet.+++++ I think Jane raises a good point and and that is an area where I try very hard every day to keep a negligible presence. I think this approach works well because I don't have the problems of spam, hijacking, etc. that I would expect. It's one thing for me to have the nursery website, but another to expose my personal involvement in a non-business plant discussion....
