I think 99% of this is expectation relative to the pattern set up with the BX - Dell always responds with a confirmation mail, and so people have come to expect that, and with email being unreliable, spam folders, etc., there's a concern that one's request wasn't received. If you add a note to the SX that sets the expectation that you won't hear anything for 4-6 weeks, I think most people would be fine with that and not worry.
