Hi Travis I have partial answers to your Acis questions. There are quite a number of Acis species, so a blanket assessment isn't necessarily possible. I don't know about their toxicity, but A. autumnalis and A. nicaeensis /are/ bothered by slugs. Both Acis and Ipheion are coming up at this time for me as well. The leaves of Ipheion are the ones that are flat and about 2-3mm wide, a light green, and as you asked, with a whitish bloom. The Acis leaves are much darker, and when young appear terete (tapered cylindrical shape). The easy way to tell one from the other is to brush them lightly. The ones that make you look for the skunk are the Ipheion leaves. Dave Brastow (Tumwater Washington)
