Hi Mike,
your hybrids, both Moraeas and wg Gladioli are fantastic!
In my garden,in a dry med.climate in Cataluya, Spain, I have been testing many south african bulbs for years.
Among Moraea, specially M.polystachia and polyanthos do grow well( they even naturalize here), and Homeria collina.
Have you got hybrids of these species?
Among wg Gladioli, I was successful with G.floribundus and G. tristis, for example. I even tried to cross G. floribundus with G. illyricus or byzanthinus and I had seeds .New plants are growing in my garden, but I am not sure they will be crosses or just G .floribundus. Wait and see. Have you tried hybrids with G.floribundus? It seems to adapt well here and it could a good mother plant for dry med climates....
Regards and again, congratulations!
Guy

I've been experimenting casually with hybridizing some of the
winter-growing
Gladiolus species from South Africa. Some of the crosses have come out very
nicely. To me they look a bit like Alstroemerias, with rich colors and a
lot
of contrasting streaks and stripes. But they're easier for me to grow. (In
my climate, Alstroemerias tend to die out unless they get some summer
water,
whereas the winter-growing Glads are happy with total summer dryness.)
I finally found the time to post photos of the results from spring 2015.
You
can see the best ones here:
I also posted photos of a couple of Calochortus hybrids:
