Microchips in lieu of labels

Inserting the tag in the bulb is attractive until you remember that many 
bulbs recreate themselves every year.

Fritillaria bulbs have a hole through the middle and I'm doing an 
experiment where I inserted a stick through the hole last Autumn, and 
expect it to not be in the bulb next time.

It is common to find bulbs escaping from pots through the holes in the 
bottom. So they will travel and leave your tags behind.
