Kipp, you're not the only one to think so. The vitaceae is among the most frequently suggested families for my mystery plant.
It's hard for me to believe that it exists only in the garden in which the photos were taken.
It’s even harder for me to believe that some more knowledgeable gardener hasn’t look more closely at the plant in life and made a more obvious identification.
