Checked my cold frame today during drier weather, and was thrilled to find numerous Amaryllis belladonna seedlings from seeds I planted last fall. These are from bulbs that are more than 70 years old, transplanted from my parents’ garden more than a decade ago. They set seed every 7-10 years, and this is the first time I’ve had seedlings result from them. What I will do with dozens of Amabel bulbs I do not know, but for the thrill of growing them on, I am forging ahead.

Also putting up their first leaves are seeds of Cyclamen persicum, africanum and balearcticum.
