I keep the database of members, and when I am notified of a payment, the first thing I do is search it to see if it comes from a current member, and in that case is a renewal. If it is not from a current member, I add the record as a new member. In addition, if you are renewing, you do not need to fill out the "Member Profile" unless you want to change your record.
