Here’s from the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum’s mouth. If we want these public collections to prosper, funding must be made available. Do it ourselves or find people who will do it for us. A hard task. Hi Bracey, We have a collection of South African bulbs, but unfortunately the money that was supposed to come to the Arb to take care of that collection mostly didn't arrive. There are so many weeds that it would be embarrassing to have people come here to see them. I don't know if we'll have time to tend to them before they bloom this season. What about UC Santa Cruz? I've enjoyed lots of South African shrubs, like Proteas, in bloom there in the winter, but can't remember any bulbs. Maybe they have some at a different season.
