Mary Sue asks an interesting question about dodecatheon. I grow and sell various primula, cyclamen and dodecatheon and I'll stick to the names I have, as very few of my customers pay any attention to name changes. Further, I feel justified simply because dodecatheon are distinct enough as a group of plants that those of us who are aware of name changes are going to mentally translate "yeah, really it's now primula etc. etc." And Shooting Stars is a very distinct common name, as well. As an old librarian, it's all about cross-referencing, and Mary Sue's idea of using the old botanic names as the new common names makes great sense. Robin Hansen Nursery robin@hansennursery.com
