A local nursery is currently having it's autumn sale, and I picked up some pots of Zephyranthes flavissima and Zephyranthes grandiflora. Now I'm wondering whether to plant them out or keep them in pots so they can be moved into the greenhouse. I'm not worried about hardiness of the bulbs if planted in the ground, but I wonder whether the foliage will be zapped by a hard freeze before the bulbs can store enough energy to bloom. I'm in central North Carolina, Zone 7. Lycoris radiata is reliably hardy, but Lycoris aurea foliage is not. Any thoughts on how hardy these two Zephyranthes species are? Thanks.
