I have 2 seedlings of Paramongaia weberbaueri which are now in their second year of growth. When they started into growth again, one had a long brown neck but not the other. There was a tiny tip of green on the brown necked one, the other grew wonderfully. Not so the brown necked one. Whenit became obvious that one was not going to grow, with tiny scissors and tweezers, I removed the brown layer. I thought I might have done that one in, but no, it has since grown wonderfully well. I wonder, what causes the long brown neck on some bulbs. As it is a problem on other bulbs too. What can I do to prevent this happening? Ina -- Ina Crossley Auckland New Zealand zone 10a
