Hi Jim. You call central US weather "weird"; I prefer to think of it as "interesting." Yes, I relocated to Rapid City from Augusta, GA. Actually I'm kind of enjoying the winter weather, maybe because I spent most of my life in Buffalo, NY and central PA. My feelings may change by March, however. What shocked me was last summer -- a number of days above 100 F made me think I moved to a desert somewhere. ("But, it was a dry heat.") On a bulb related note -- I was happy on July 4 to come across a number of blooming Calochortus gunnisonii (white flowered form) in the Black Hills. Apparently they're fairly common there. Didn't you move from a much milder part of the US? and to South Daakota. Must be a climatic shock !! > > Welcome to weird Central US weather.
