It's a summer-growing tropical alpine since that's most of the arable land in Peru. Won't tolerate summer heat. Santa Barbara seems to be great for it according to the California Rare Fruit Growers. I ate it in Peru. It tastes like starch. The small tubers are really beautiful in bins at the market - shades of tan, yellow, pink, red and white all on the same tuber. I can barely keep alive - hmmm, it's late - the iron cross Oxalis in summer in my house. Oca had no chance here even in the house. But don't let that stop the rest of you.
