I and others here in metro Phoenix plant them in late fall/early winter. We have dry air, lots of sunshine, daytime temperatures always above freezing, and occasional nights below freezing, down to -8C. The frost has never affected Daubenya here. I keep all my bulb seed but Gladiolus extremely wet - containers standing in water - until they sprout. I don't have access to my records right now but I seem to recall that was in about 4-6 weeks. I then kept them always moist but not standing in water. They grow steadily. We bulb nuts here consider them easy to grow. But them we have a desert winter climate and don't need to grow in a greenhouse. Leo Martin Phoenix Arizona USA
