Douglas Westfall (Tue, 24 Jan 2012 13:10:36 PST) I think that he may not be allowed to contact U.S. He traveled to many places in the world - primarily So. America Where he collected many RARE bulbs and seeds. I have been the benefactor of one of those trips (Hippeastrum intiflorum. Currently, I am the only source of them in the world (and I thank him every year when they bloom). That is all that I know and it may be all that there is to about Dennis currently. Sincerely, Doug Westfall ________________ Joshua Young (Tue, 24 Jan 2012 13:22:53 PST) I have desperatly tried contacting him to re-send a bulb to him, I have e-mailed him atleast 20 times with no luck, this is probably way! Thanks Doug Josh ________________ I know someone of the same name in Hong Kong who maintains a very impressive collection of orchids and bulbs. Apart from So. America, DT travels around east and southern Africa and has been to Tanzania, Uganda, Namibia, and possibly Angola and west Africa (Burkina Faso, I.Coast, Nigeria, etc), that's what I have heard from friends of his. Back in the 90's, he came to CA for a visit and met people of the IBS. Doug, your H. intiflorum is rather interesting as it has got thick green leaves which feel a bit like cardboard and the red flowers reflect a sheen of gold dust in bright light. What growing condition does the species need? Is the species self-fertile or self-sterile? Joshua, I am told that DT does not often reply e-mails and suggest you send him the bulb in any case. I have got his address if you need it. Alan
