I have used 'Liquid Smoke' itself, a fairly available condiment.  I soaked seeds in a 1/25 solution for 2 hours with significant results for species of Erica and Protea.

Randy,

This is one of the few species that is said to be pyrophytic.  Perhaps blooming 
could be induced with the liquid smoke stuff used in other fire dependent plant 
species???
