Hi, I don't know why all this plant conservation is concerned only on “wild” or “botanical" plants. I think that many of old cultivars should be protected; they may bring genes from wild species or varieties not existing today. They may have gene combination not available today. I think so, because there are lots of people collecting cultivars of many of domesticated plants. For example, my sister had been working for several years on old apple cultivars collection, as a kind of gene bank (http://www.staresady.republika.pl/intro_en.htm in English). Are there any such collections of old bulbous plants cultivars?
