Dear Friends, We have had extended and excessive heat and drought. Still some things are blooming here in Kansas City, Crinum 'Super Ellen' is the star right now. I think it is on its 5th or 6th stalk of brilliant ruby flowers on 6 ft stems. Wow. Crinum x powelli and 'alba' are both blooming too, but look pale in comparison. Some odds and ends of lilies are finishing up and L. lancifolium flore pleno - double Tiger Lily are blooming now. You love this or hate it. Polianthes x bundrantii in a pot, of course, is blooming. I got this from Yucca Doo years ago and it has been a very reliable pot subject, blooming and increasing each year. Last week I mentioned my Summer Iris - I domestica and I dichotoma which are both still in bloom. A few flowers per stem per day, but they keep on blooming. No Lycoris yet, but with our drought I suspect the season will be late and meager. They really 'hate' these conditions. Nhu this is a really good idea and a great way for many members to chime in with a brief report. I hop eto hear more from all across our membership around the world. Best Jim W. -- Dr. James W.
