David Hale of Portland, Oregon, has grown Lapageria rosea for many years in a large glazed clay pot in his and Donna's dining room, next to a north-facing window. I can't quite recall but I think he has it trained on a moss pillar of the kind used for orchids, about 5 feet high or a little more. It flowers there. Growing it indoors would solve the Midwest heat threat if the house is air-conditioned, as I think many of them are. Jane McGary
