>If Jim Waddick hadn't successfully grown Crocus goulimyi in his >former garden, I'd guess that Kansas City's heat and humidity were >the cause of its failure in his current garden. Maybe his erstwhile >garden had more porous soil? Dear Russell and all. My success had two elements. My former garden was in mid-Kansas City and had milder less extreme conditions than my sub- urban present garden. The Crocus were also planted in a slightly raised gravely bed ( part of a former driveway), while my current soils are heavy fine grained clay with high water retention. So I must try this again in a raised bed here. No consistent snow cover, but lots of crocus mad squirrels. 'Tis a mystery. Best Jim -- Dr. James W. Waddick 8871 NW Brostrom Rd.
