I had a patch of 'Picton's Double' that I was successful in eradicating two or three years ago. Simple method: at flowering time, dig up every clump you can spot, using a narrow, long, *strong* trowel. The next spring the expected reappearance of the ranunculus did not appear. For whatever reason, virtually all the tubers had been successfully lifted. Now it may be that 'Picton's Double' isn't among the strongest growing forms of R. ficaria, but it had always given the impression of being a fairly vigorous plant. This report may point the way for you. -- Rodger Whitlock Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Maritime Zone 8, a cool Mediterranean climate on beautiful Vancouver Island http://maps.google.ca/maps/…
