Since Jim Waddick is offering bulbils of the form of L. lancifolium 'Flore Pleno' that I grow, I jsut have to tell a story about those (hit "delete" now if you hate sentimental stories). These were not in fact roadside escapees, as Jim tells it, but from plants growing in a roadside garden in the little summer colony of Panther Lake, NY, south of the Adirondacks. I stopped and admired them, and was offered bulbils by the owner (actually, he offered to dig some, but I assured him that was unnecessary). The story doesn't end there, though; a couple of years ago I was giving a talk, and someone came up afterwards to ask whether I still had the lily from Panther Lake (I no longer sell it, as plenty are available in mainstream commerce). She said her parents had eloped to Panther Lake, many years ago, and she wanted that memento. Needless to say, I sent her a boxful.
