Hi, I announced some time ago that Cameron McMaster is going to be visiting my husband and me in June and invited people who might live close to contact me privately and come and meet him and to hear him talk. He will be speaking in Gualala where I live and then again to others when he visits the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley the day before he leaves, Wednesday, June 25, 2008. A couple of people emailed that they hope to be able to meet him in Berkeley. But for those of you who may have missed the first announcement I'm going to announce again his talk in Gualala. I realize we aren't located in a convenient place, but it is really beautiful here so if you decide you are interested in coming and meeting Cameron (and visiting with my husband and me too), please email me privately and I'll give you directions. The California Native Plant Society announces a talk by Cameron McMaster entitled, Gems of the Summer Rainfall Area of South Africa, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Gualala Community Center, Gualala. He has prepared a special talk on the biodiversity of the summer rainfall areas and will show photographs of plants (and other things) in many different habitats: the Karoo, grassland, coastal and forest areas and the beautiful mountain area, the Drakensberg. He will also show pictures of plants from Lesotho. Included in this talk will be information about special hikes and excursions visitors can take such as the Moonstone Magic Cycad Trail, Adele Moore's Mt. Aurora Orchid trail and the Woodcliffe cave trails with views of rock art. There is no charge for this talk and the public is welcome to attend. Although this isn't just a talk about bulbs, I'm sure that there will be a number of pictures that feature them. Mary Sue
