Justin, I was very impressed by raised beds I saw in several South African botanic gardens. I took photos so I can make some for myself. Ones at the Karoo Desert Botanic Garden in Worcester were waist-high, and built of concrete blocks. The beds were divided into grids by bricks on their sides making individual square planting spaces with one type of bulb per hole. There were four planting spaces across the width, and the beds were very long. I don't know what the soil was like, but the surface was broken rock. Diane Whitehead Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
