I am not sure how hardy C. jagus is but it has certainly been hardy and healthy in zone 8 I have one that has been ID'ed as a variation pf C. jagus called C. giganteum. I was lucky enough to live in Naples, FL where Henry Nehrling (who brought giganteum to the US) retired, I lived a few blocks from his Carribean Gardens. This plant came from an old garden in Naples as a gift from a friend. The scent is an amazingly intoxicating vanilla/honey that still brings a smile to my face every time it blooms.
