Last year at about this time we had a thread going about Sternbergia lutea. One of the questions which arose concerned moving this plant while it was in growth. The advice given then (and, in the spirit of counsels of perfection, it was good advice) was to avoid this. At the time I did not contribute to this discussion because I had just moved (or was about to move) a large group of Sternbergia lutea in growth. I'm happy to report that those plants took the move in stride; they bloomed well this year. Sternbergia lutea grows very well in this area; it's one of those plants which takes care of itself. In areas where the plant is of marginal dependability, the results might be different when plants are moved just before winter.
