I have also noticed this. The American ones usually manage to make bulbs anyway, but the Asian ones can fail to form bulbs when this happens. Since they germinate so early, it's difficult to know what to do with them when it's too cold to keep them outdoors, but the indoor facilities heat up too much. Jane McGary Northwestern Oregon, USA
