I am after the Native jonquil - Proiphys cunninghamii (also called the Brisbane Lily) - I have looked for bulbs/seed on the net and have been unable to find anything. Does anybody have this plant and hopefully some upcoming seed? Sorry, no; you can propagate them only from seed or from portions of the root with growing points. The flower stems are annual and will not produce roots. The cutflower strains of Alstroemeria may be available as potted plants in spring at some garden centers. But I admit that I have never heard of Altroemeria (or most other monocots) being propagated in this way. Perhaps we should give it a try. John Grimshaw Dr John M. It is unfortunately an erroneous result with no follow-up correction by the authors. FWIW: When I first attempted propagating alstroemeria some years ago I tried using every kind of tissue offered; rhizome pieces, the tips and those containing axillary buds, were the only ones that continued growing and reproduced the entire plant. Using Google to try and find the exact reference to propagating alstroemeria from stem cuttings, the closest I've come is the following, Ziv M, Kanterovitz R, Halevy AH (1973) Vegetative propagation of Alstroemeria in vitro . Sci Hortic ... I'll attempt to find the paper and report the data.
