Ipomoea platensis

I am growing I. platensis. After the first year of growth from seed, I
repotted it with the tuber about half exposed above the soil. I plan to keep
raising it up as it grows bigger.

actually, i've seen it in succulent collections and it
does produce what seems to be a very large caudex. 
not sure if it's deliberately exposed. it'd be
interesting to know what it does in the wild.
