Hi all, Three summers ago I found a beautiful Calochortus growing in a wild area in Bend, OR behind my sister's home. It is due to be developed into a watered park area i.e. future loss of habitat for this species. I could not identify but collected bulbs and seeds. No emergence in 2003. July '03 returned to Bend. No collection of bulbs or seed. Sister promised to harvest seed but didn't have an eye for the ripe pod. July 04 I brought digital camera and called local Master Gardener. Voila! Calochortus macrocarpus. Dug 5 bulbs and marked stems for sister to harvest ripe seed. If successful will be able to share with BX. Kind regards, Joyce Miller Joyce E.
