Howdy, The local council here at Gosford (NSW, Australia) recognizes that Crinum Pedunculatum is threatened in its natural habits in several of the lagoon areas where it naturally grows. In one of these areas I found this plant: http://ausbulbs.org/bulbgal/details.php/… I note the inflorescence is quite purple (fades a little towards green). Usually the variety planted as street plants has a green inflorescence. Can anyone say with what sort of frequency this occurs or if this is a particular strain? Should I perhaps be calling this plant Crinum Asiaticum var Pedunculatum....and then should this be perfectly natural because many of the Asiatic varieties do have purple inflorescence?
