Hi everyone, Yellow flowers! Hmmmmm......, just not my favorite color in the garden. A few postings so far give me some suggestions. The following are in no particular order: Gladiolus "x-gandavensis", maybe G. dalenii primulinus, or maybe really the hybrid. Nice primrose-yellow flowers in later summer, and pretty hardy here outdoors. Calochortus luteus 'Golden Orb' is also fairly hardy here, and a rich yellow color in early summer. Narcissus -- all sorts of yellows and very hardy here. Even N. bulbicodium is hardy outdoors and blooms, including N. bulbicodium conspicuus and N. b. nivalis, not just 'Golden Bells'. They bloom in spring, which is still seemingly a long way off. Triteleia ixioides scabra is another hardy one, with pale yellow flowers in early summer. Finally, in the greenhouse, Lachenalia reflexa is starting to bloom just now, with light yellow flowers. Later in the season, some of these might be replaced with Clivia miniata citrina cultivars, but they are not blooming yet here in the greenhouses. Later, Cyrtanthus mackenii cooperi with its small, pale creamy yellow tubular flowers will also be a pleasure to see.
