Jim ~ Bingo! In the last couple of years, I have bought a great many colchicum and have been quite disappointed with respect to just how mixed they really are. A few sorts are so distinctive, however, that mix-ups are rare, e.g., the few doubles. Part of the problem is that I don't think there is a definitive monograph on the genus. The real service we can do each other, I think, is to trade observations (and corms/seeds) and see if we can't arrive at some commonly agreed-upon description for as many of these as we can, in particular, the large hybrids.
