Dear All: When, years ago, we wrote the description of the great lily 'Enchantment' the first lily to be given a plant patent, it was orange, but according to the RHS color charts, which gave names to the colors, this 'orange' was called 'Nasturtium red' and this was how the color was described! Orange has not as great an appeal as 'Nasturtium Red'. I remember describing the color of 'Thunderbolt' as having the color of the inside of a ripe Cantaloupe Melon, it was fun to see how many times this color description in magazines, catalogs etc.. Being able to reference a color to a well known fruit was a definite advantage as people knew exactly the color referred to. Cheers, John E. Bryan
