RED alert. As you could see in any book dealing with plant
viruses, leafhoppers are among the most efficient vectors of these incurable
diseases. They are particular to certain plants (here to Salvias) so it is
easy to monitor their occurrence in which case a systemic insecticide is the
best solution, its effect usually lasting for a whole three week period. A
small scale attack is not so terrible, the problem is when leafhoppers stay
for long enough to spread viruses from weeds to our collections!
