Hello all, We now have, I am told, over a hundred members here. I received an email from Alan Kenndey, in the UK, a few days ago. Alan is the National Collection holder for Schizostylus and is engaged in a DNA research project to try to collect all the names that people are growing Schizostylus under. He is in the process of trying to sort out and identify duplicative names and believes that he will end up with 20 or 30 separate and unique forms when all is said and done. The names may be any kind of identifying name; a hybrid name, a 'form' name, or any other name such as a 'generally-sold-as or generally-known-as name'. He stated that he was primarily interested in "named cultivars". Most all of you growing this bulb will be able to locate the 'name(s)' of these and Alan would very much appreciate it if you would send them to him. If you know the color you might also tell him. I imagine any other info you have such as growth habit or other description would also be of use to him because it will help him to 'identify' which form belongs to which name. You might also give some thought as to whether or not you have photos of these. Thanks for your help. Here is his email address: mailto:akennedy@cix.co.uk Cathy Craig President PBS Maritime zone 9b
