Jim Waddick wrote,There's no A anatolicum in the Gusman book synonymy lists, but your description sure fits A. flavum which is found from E. Africa to W. China ( 3 ssp.). Self sterility is not always the case. the fruit of A flavum looks like a rounded raspberry. " I grew this from seed collected by a Czech, and they often use names from Soviet floras that are not in general use in the West, so probably some Russian botanist just decided to split it off at some time in the past. Maybe it's a subspecies. The fruit does look like a raspberry. So I guess it is just an ugly A. flavum from western Asia. Oh well. Jane McGary Northwestern Oregon
