i haven't been to CA in about 10 years or so, but i have wonderful memories of the gardens at UC berkeley. i remember the enormous, blooming Brunsvigia josephinae among others; also wonderful caudiciforms (Dioscorea, Cyphostemma, cucurbits, i seem to recall). also the gardens in SF's golden gate park (strybing?) are well worth a visit.
how about gardens in the southern CA area or santa barbara that are recommended?
