| We will be selling fresh bulbs/corms!
Gordon Summerfield of Summerfield Bulbs and Seeds has decided that exporting bulbs is becoming a bit of a headache for him and we offered to take over his distribution.
All the bulbs and corms are lifted from their pots and allowed to dry. All the loose soil and loose “tunics” are removed.
We are happy to dip or dust with an insecticide or fungicide if required for your import conditions, please let us know.
Bulbs should be available from the beginning of January. Most bulbs with the exception of a few Gladiolus i.e.: G.priori & a few Lachenalia species, as well as some Hessia and Strumaria species start to show growth early February but the bulk only need to be planted around early April.
When the bulbs arrive, plant and water immediately. It can take a few months for the bulbs to acclimatise to their new weather patterns.

| Most countries will need a Phytosanitary Certificate and maybe even an import permit.
Bulbs have a whole different set of import conditions to seeds which we at Silverhill might not be aware of. Please understand that ordering bulbs is at your own risk, and we cannot take responsibility if your parcel is confiscated by customs.
- USA – will only allow bulbs in that are totally dormant
- UK – is still a bit flexible
- Australia and New Zealand – seems to be a no-go – If you have more information or suggestions, we are happy to hear them.
We will pack your bulbs in newspaper or paper towel to prevent as much damage as we can, and this will also allow the bulbs to “breathe”. |

Royal Mail (TRACKED) – if you have a Phyto
Royal Mail (UNTRACKED) – there is a slight possibility the parcel might get through customs without being checked. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE of this happening.
DHL – Again with a Phytosanitary Certificate
We cannot be held responsible for any shipping delays pertaining to your parcel once it has been dispatched, no matter which shipping method you have selected.
Should your parcel be delayed, or at worst not arrive at all, we cannot be held liable and will not be able to refund your money.
Please note too that your shipping fee excludes any import VAT, duties, clearance charges or penalties that may be levied at destination. |
