I used to put rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and spray on orchids when mealy bugs were under the loose skin on the pseudobulbs. The alcohol wicks in and kills them and never did any perceptible harm to the plants as it quickly evaporates and as far as I know it doesn't soak into the plant tissues. Bob Zone 7 just got 4" of rain overnight We are in the process of dividing and replanting our Polianthes. Noticing a fair bit of soft scale down in the crevasses between bulbs. I was wondering if I could kill them with a dilute bleach or peroxide soak? If not that, any recommendations for insecticide soaks?
