Dichelostemma capitatum submitted as Dipterostemon capitatus

I just call them Wavey Purple Pom Poms.

I agree with Jan and Jane that it is good to have one system for the whole
list and good to print synonyms, just as Mary Sue uses one primary
reference for the wiki, Plants Of the World Online, which in this instance
is different (for now) from World Flora Online. When you use a name and a
reference in combination it is not wrong, just "This name according to that
reference." I like how Jan has a column for "submitted as" with the name
the donor wrote on their envelope. (BTW, if you cut-and-paste the SX list
from the forum, it copies as a spreadsheet. That formatting gets lost in
the plain-text mail list.)

For me, the looking-up of names, the investigation of details such as
dissecting to count stamens, this is as much a part of my bulb hobby as the
sniffing of honey-scented purple pom poms and occasionally inhaling a bee.

I also grow Dichelostemma multiflorum but that one dwindles here in the
same condition as Dipterostemon capitatus thrives. Its corms are smaller
and shaped differently and do not move down as deep in the soil.

Now if only my permanent metal markers could auto-magically update with
taxonomic changes...
